In recent years,people’s life get much convenience accompanied by rapideconomic development,the living standards are getting higher and higher. However,the ecological environment were destroyed by people which bring series of negativeeffects,such as dust storms,drought,floods,soil erosion,climate anomalies,etc.These phenomena affect our normal life and hinder the economic development ofsociety directly or indirectly. Ecological environment and human life are interrelated,so we should pay attention to the ecological environment,analyze the changes ofecological environment and make some plan and suggestions of the rational use ofnatural resources to ensure sustainable economy development.The ecological environment changes of Shen Yang city were analyzed in thispaper,which was selected as a ecological model city in2004. The changes on theecological environment before and after2004were described quantitatively throughland use/cover change,vegetation coverage changes and landscape pattern change.Remote sensing technology was widely used in the macro-eco-environmental changesaccompanied by its increasingly mature. The changes of ecological environment aboutShen Yang city were studied and analyzed through remote sensing technology andgeographic information system technology.Three periods U.S. LANDSAT TM/ETM+images were choosed as data sourcein this paper,which were August2001, August2004and August2008. The imageswere processed with band combination,geometric correction,Image mosaic andclipping by software ENVI4.7. The three period Images were classified byobject-oriented classification method, the land use/cover change of three periods ofShen Yang city were studied and analyzed as a key by multi-scale segmentationalgorithm and object-oriented nearest neighbor algorithm. The vegetation changefrom2001to2008was analyzed,the vegetation coverage was estimated by twosub-model pixel and calculated by normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI).The changes of landscape pattern of Shen Yang city were analyzed quantitatively bylandscape index method based on the object-oriented classification results,thelandscape indices were calculated by FRAGSTATS software,and eight representativeindicators were selected to study the landscape pattern change of Shen Yang city.
