A broken-line wire slot is suitable for wiring winding ropes with layers, and theprocessing method is quite different from the method of ordinary spiral groovesbecause of the special structure. Recently the broken-line wire slot is produced withthe ordinary lathe processing mostly in our country, and the processing quality can’t beguaranteed because of the complex processing. The special structure also makes NCmachining complex and difficult. During the processing, the validity of the programscan not be protected. Nevertheless, with the gradual development of the industrialeconomy, the market of the broken-line wire slot is broader, and as a result, theresearch on the NC machining simulation system of the broken-line wire slot hasimportant practical significance.Based on this, this thesis discusses the development method and the keytechnology of the simulation system which is based on the numerical control lathe forcarrier and takes the broken-line wire slot as the research object, and meanwhile thesimulation system is developed which sets the virtual reality technology and the solidmodeling theory as the foundation, combines with the computer graphics technologyand uses VC++, OpenGL and3DS MAX. Before processing, the NC codes areexecuted on the computer firstly, and the machining process is simulated. Through thesimulation system, the process is observed advancedly, the reliability of the codes areensured, the processing time is shortened, the efficiency is improved, and all these laythe foundation to the automated manufacturing of the slots.This thesis introduces the development of the NC simulation technology and itsapplication in broken-line wire slot manufacturing field, summaries the processingprinciple and the technology, analyzes the relationship among the processingparameters, emphatically elaborates the determination method of the practicalmachining cutting parameters and the tool nose center position. Then the geometrymodels of the numerical control lathe and the wire slots are studied, and all parts of the three-dimensional geometry models are built with OpenGL. Finally, this thesis usesthe axis-aligned bounding box collision detection algorithm to simulate the process ofbroken-line wire slots on the computer, the collision object is responsed, and at thesame time the implementation of the special effects rendering is conducted, whichmakes the operator can observe the collision. In the end of this thesis theimplementation process of the the system is described, the research contents aresummarized, and the development of the simulation system is prospected.
