The research indicates that we can reduce vehicle weight, energy consumption, reduce emissionsand improve vehicle fuel economy by using aluminum alloy. However, low formability at roomtemperature result in not exact shape.In order to meet the requirements of strength in direct hotforming, it must increase the quenching and aging after forming, not only to extend the productioncycle, but also increased production costs.Therefore,on the basic of synchronized cooling hot formingprocess which learn from domestic and abroad,the production process is optimized and a new process-Paint Baking after synchronization cooling hot forming is investigated in this paper.It can not onlyimproving the formability of aluminum alloy but also keeping the strength.First,Synchronized cooling hot forming-artificial aging process and Paint Baking process aftersynchronization cooling hot forming of6016/6181H18aluminum alloy which were produced bySouthwest aluminum co, Ltd have been simulated on Gleeble3500.Then two experimental processparameters and mechanical properties were obtained through an orthogonal test.Finally, themicrostructure evolution of materials were analyzed by optical microscopy. The results and the maincontributions are as following:Paint Baking process after synchronization cooling hot forming is suitable for6016/6181H18aluminum alloy.In the macro,the formability of paint baking process after synchronization cooling hotforming of6016/6181H18were greatly improved than the formability of6016/6181H18, T4state atroom temperature, the yield strength lower than the T6state about85%, and the formability achievethe synchronization cooling hot forming-artificial aging state.In the microscopic, strengtheningmechanism of paint baking process after synchronization cooling hot forming of6016/6181H18wereanalyzed. A large number of strengthening phase and spherical or cylindrical ’’phase in the matrixhave appeared after forming, but the grain was thicker and dispersion was poor in compared with theT6state at room temperature, so the intensity is less than T6state.
