The mechanical properties and thermal proterties can be improved obviously, if a small amount of inorganic nanoparticles was added into polymer. The ultrasonic dispersion means are adopted to prepare thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer/organic montmorillonite(OMMT), TPU/nano-SiO2 and TPU/nano-SiO2/OMMT, and effect of many factors on the properties have been discussed. The results as follows:The morphology and properties were studied by means of X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Thermogravimetric analysis and Differential Scanning Calorimetry. At the same time, different opposite experiment were conducted, and then the optimal preparation process has been obtained. The results indicated that, when the OMMT content is 3%, the mechanical properties to achieve the best value, the ultimate strength is 19.91MPa and impact strength is 105.90kJ/m2. The swelling property was tested and the results indicated that the adding OMMT improved the solvent resistance of TPU.TPU/nano-SiO2 and TPU/nano-SiO2/OMMT have been prepared. When nano- SiO2 is 4%, the ultimate strength of adhesive is 19.56MPa and its impact strength is 82.80 kJ/m2 the ternary compound elastomer, the total mass of organic montmorillonite and SiO2 are 3% of TPU, and the proportion of SiO2 and organic montmorillonite is 3:2, the elastomer have best mechanical properties, the ultimate tensile strength is 23.55 MPa and impact strength is 114.90 kJ/m2. The solvent resistance of elastomer increased greatly.
