1,10-phenanthroline with nitrogen six-membered heterocyclic ring structure,possesses excellent ability of accepting π electrons, and is easy to form a stablecoordination compound with a variety of metal ions, so it has excellent opticalproperties. Using1,10-phenanthroline as the starting material, we designed andsynthesized the ligand:2-Phenyl-imidazo[4,5-f]l,10-Phenanthroline (PIP), as well astwo polymeric complexes:[Zn(PIP)2(NO322H2O and [Cu(PIP)2Cl]·2H2O. Themolecular compositions and stuctures of these complexes were studied, theirluminescent properties were investigated by means of fluorescence. Main works are asfollow:In this dissertation,1,10-phenanthroline–5,6-dione was synthesized as precursorafter methanol recrystallization with72.4%production rate. Then the2–phenyl–imidazo[4,5–f] l,10-phenanthroline (PIP) ligand was prepared. The structure and fluorescentproperties of the ligand were investigated by means of the H-NMR,FTIR,UV andFluorescence Detection. It was recorded at biggest excitation wavelength λex=395nmand emission wavelength λem=472nm.Base on the PIP ligant,[Zn(PIP)2(NO322H2O and [Cu(PIP)2Cl]·2H2O were alsosynthesized. The UV spectra and Fluorescence Spectra were used to characterize thestructures of the two samples. The results showed that,1) Metal ions were coordinatedwith the ligand.2) The biggest excitation wavelength and emission wavelength of[Zn(PIP)2(NO<sub>3)22H2O were λex=432nm and λem=472nm which indicated that it hadexcellent fluorescent properties; and the coordination polymer [Cu(PIP)2Cl]·2H2Oprensents fluoreseence at λem=539nm under the excitation wavelength λex=457nm.As the electron clouded on the ligand moving to the empty orbital on the metal ions,the red shift phenomenon of the emission wavelengths of two complexes werehappened. The fluorescence intensity of the two complexes and imidazole medicamentligands were determined and compared at the concentration of1.0×10-5mol/L. Theresults showed that the fluorescence intensity of [Zn(PIP)2(NO322H2O was obviouslyenhanced, the fluorescence quantum yields could reach0.17, which had good luminousefficiency; and the fluorescence quantum yields of [Cu(PIP)2Cl]·2H2O was0.15, whichhad low luminous efficiency.
