Grinding process is one of the important finishing methods. As an important toolfor grinding, grinder becomes more and more efficient, precise, and composite. In thisthesis, the overall scheme, spindle structural and dynamic performance of thecomposite grinder for end face and inner hole of tappet body are designed andanalyzed.1. Based on the analysis on motion form of grinder, the article presents overalllayout scheme of composite grinder for processing tappet body, the scheme useshorizontal structure,end face is processed by longitudinal motion of grinding head andinner hole is processed by lateral motion of work-piece.2. By researching on bearing configurations, two columns of angular-contact ballbearings which are all installed back to back are determined to use on the front andrear supports of composite grinder spindle. Preliminary design for the spindle ofcomposite grinder is implemented with the method of engineering experience andtheoretical calculation.3. The dynamic modal of the spindle system of composite grinder is found, andthe parameters of spindle system which have an effect on dynamic properties areresearched and optimized based on transfer matrix method, the first-order naturalfrequency of the spindle system is increased by16.3%,and the resonance amplitude isdecreased by71.4%compared with the values before optimizing.4. The finite element model is developed and dynamic analysis of the pivotalparts of composite grinder is presented,meanwhile, the first four nature frequencies ofparts are given, in addition, the modal analysis and harmonic analysis of wholecomposite grinder are carried out, amplitude-frequencies curve, nature frequencies onrang of working frequency and corresponding modal shapes are given, according toanalysis, the resonance amplitude and its frequency are determined, thus, the basis foroptimizing structure of grinder and determining technical parameters are provided. The research results have been successfully applied to the design of compositegrinder for end face and inner hole of tappet body.
