The nurse effect of the plant is commonplace. In recent years, ecologists have begun to realize their importance in determining community dynamics, community composition and ecosystem functioning. The nurse effect of the plant can promote growing of neighborhood by multiple pathways. The nurse plant how to affect the soil physical and chemical properties plays an important role in these pathways.Therefore, this work is based on the nurse effect of the common plant potentilla fruticosa in the Tibet Plateau, starting from the point of view of the soil physical and chemical properties and soil enzyme, and explore the nurse effect of the plant how to affect the plant communities on the ground, and discuss the nurse effect of the plant how to affect soil physical and chemical properties and soil enzyme. Thus, it will provide us theoretical basis to explain the positive interaction between plants further. The results show that:1) Potentilla fruticosa has nurse effect on its under-story plant communities structure at the certain extent. The present of the potentilla fruticosa increased the total biomass of the plant communities, but had no influence on the richness of the plant communities;2) The nurse effect of the potentilla fruticosa on the different under-story plant functional groups had distinctions. The present of the potentilla fruticosa can enhance the biomass and richness of Legume functional group, but has no significant difference on the Graminoid and Forb functional group;3) The present of the potentilla fruticosa had different nurse effect on different plant species. Study had shown the nurse effect of different species had differentiations even if in a common functional group. For example:three species in the Legume functional group reached a significant level, but only half in the Forb functional group.4) The present of the potentilla fruticosa can improve the under-story soil pH、 SOM(soil organic matter)、total nitrogen and the electrical conductivity of the soil. And may activate the activity of various under-story soil enzyme. It can be indicated the existence of potentilla fruticosa had great influence on the soil physical and chemical properties. And it also demonstrated the nurse effect on soil properties has a grate significance in the study of mechanism of the nurse effect.It has very important persuasive to explain the way and the mechanism of the nurse effect of the plant through discussing the present of the potentilla fruticosa how to effect its under-story plant communities structure and soil physical and chemical properties. This work show a new framework to investigate the interplay of facilitative and competitive interactions and their impacts on processes such a population dynamics and community organization. Then, it will provide feasible direction for recruitment and protection of alpine meadow.
