Single, double and multielectron processes in collision of highly charged ions (HCIs) of0.8-2a.u. O6+and0.5-1.4a.u. Xe23+with He, Ne and Ar atoms have been studied near the Bohr velocity. The experiments were carried out under the high-voltage-electron-cyclotron-resonance ion source (HV-ECRIS) at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) of Lanzhou, Chinese Academy of Science (CAS). A time-of-flight spectrometer (TOFS), a position-sensitive microchannel plate detector (PS-MCPD) and Multiparameter Multichannel Analyzers (MPA) were used to obtain the two-dimensional position-versus-TOF spectrum of recoil ion and scattering ion. The velocity dependencies of the relative cross sections of single, double and multielectron processes are obtained. The experimental data are discussed in terms of the extended classical over-barrier (ECB) model and the electron promotion mechanism of molecular-orbital theory, and compared with the results by the ECB model and the scaling law by Selberg et al.[Phys. Rev. A54,4127(1996)].
