Environment factor has an important application in the reliability engineering. In the reliability evaluation, there are always problems about the conversion and integration issues in the different environments. For example, for the newly developed products, especially high reliability spacecrafts and military products, it is impossible to have a large number of experiments under the actual conditions. So, it may be that a large number of experimental data under the permissible experimental conditions is converted to actual condition data for reliability evaluation and identification of the product. Or when there is less in the test datas and it can not be a lot of experiments because of the limitations of time and money, we can transform test data under other environment into the equivalent data. It can expand the sample size so that it makes product reliability assessment results more credible. Problems about the conversion and integration of test information need to be solved through environment factor.Now, to determine environment factor has become the edge of common concern subject of the reliability and environmental engineering workers. Environment factor is an important parameter in the reliability assessment. In this paper, the definitions of the environment factor of Weibull and exponential distribution series system are given according to the generally accepted three basic assumptions. The point and interval estimations of the environment factor are derived when the lifetimes of units are exponential or Weibull distribution under progressively type II censored sampling. The precision of the confidence interval is studied by simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed procedure is satisfactory. The method in this paper can be better solved in the statistical inference of environmental factors of the exponential or Weibull distribution series system.It can be laid a good theoretical basis for practical application.
