Mass collapse hazard is a global pangenesis geological disaster, and it brings hugelosses of human lives and property. It has a large scale and fast movement speed andmoving farther into the valley relying on air-cushion. The oversize mass collapseoccurred in the Cocktail Mountain on June5,2009, and it resulted in more than80people were killed. Obviously, the study on motional compression characteristic of masscollapse is national demand for the disaster reduction of traffic and construction; it hassignificance on the disaster prevention and reduction.Based on aerodynamics, model experiment, wavelet transform theory, orthogonalexperiment analysis, this study takes research on the motional compressioncharacteristic of mass collapse, and the main study results are as follows:(1)According to the analysis of home and abroad literatures, the mass collapseshows its huge quality, rapid movement velocity and high-speed motion after the entryof gully. And with the air cushion effect, it moves farther distance and the influence ismuch severely.(2)Based on the aerodynamics, theory deduced model for the compression onbottom air in the falling process of mass collapse is gained; ground on thecompressional wave theory, the compression theory and calculation method of fallingcollapse masses to the bottom air are deduced and the air leakage coefficient is proposed;the compression equations with the arrival of collapse masses to the bottom of gully arededuced by considering the aerodynamics effect.(3)Compression characteristics experiment of mass collapse, in allusion to theinteraction between collapse rock masses and air, it studies on the bottom aircompressive force in the falling process through air compression characteristicsexperiment. It takes research on the different factors for the aerodynamics effect ofcollapse, such as: the weight, porosity and height of collapse. Based on that, it gains theout-leakage coefficients and air compressive force and it takes research on theimportance of influence factors through orthogonal experiment analysis.(4)It processes the theoretical analysis on clastic flow and takes application in themass collapse of Cocktail Mountain in Wu-long, Chongqing. Moreover, the velocity ofcollapse to gully is calculated by considering air effect.
