This paper studies a newly developed high temperature superconductor (HTS) pulse-type microampere magnetic flux pump and do some experiments about it. Because of the HTS joint resistance and smaller n index value, the operation current will decay. And the HTS magnet can’t work in the persistent current mode. The stability of the magnet will decrease because of the energy loss in the magnet. This problem can be solved by the flux pump way, and use the flux pump to compensate energy. The flux pump can also be supposed as a power supply for superconductor magnet.In this paper, we describe the structure and design of the whole experiment system of the HTS pulse-type microampere magnetic flux pump in detail. The structure and work principle of the HTS pulse-type microampere magnetic flux pump are shown in this paper. The HTS pulse-type microampere magnetic flux pump system is composed of main part, power system, testing system. The main part of the flux pump is composed of iron core, copper coils, HTS slice. The power system is controlled by computer. The testing system includes single-chip and PC system. And we also studied the heat insulation of low temperature, vacuum of low temperature and low temperature measurement technology.The experiments include the design and fabrication of the flux pump and tests of flux pump. We tested the characteristics of the pumping current under the next four conditions:(1) The pumping current of circuit load with one loop;(2) The pumping current of the simple magnet load;(3)The effect of HTS joints in one loop superconducting circuit;(4) Comparisons of Bi-2223slice flux pump and MgB2slice flux pump;(5) The temperature effect of operation characteristic of flux pump.The maximum pumping current of our flux pump is over100. Our flux pump can be supposed to be a power supply of superconducting magnet from this result. By comparison, we discovered that the pumping current of Bi-2223flux pump is more stable. It can be supposed as the compensator of HTS magnets...
