Absolute radiometric calibration of satellite is the foundation of quantitativeapplication of Remote Sensing data. In order to improve the quality and quantitativeapplication level of HJ-1CCD cameras data, it is needed to calibrate for HJ-1CCDcameras with high precision. At present the radiometric calibration of HJ-1CCDcameras are mainly dependent on the test site calibration results by China Centre forResources Satellite Data and Application once a year, and the number of calibrationtimes are obviously insufficient compared with of the cycle and quantity CCDcameras data. In this situation, this paper carried out the research on HJ-1CCDcameras cross calibration and validation by using the large and uniform area in theArabian desert as the test sites. Specific research includes the following aspects:(1)According to selection principle and standards of cross calibration test sites, the Arabian desert areas were chosen as the HJ-1CCD cameras cross calibration testsites. According to HJ-1CCD cameras cross calibration principle with MODIS, thecross calibration coefficients of HJ-1CCD cameras were calculated.(2) The impact factors affecting the precision of HJ-1CCD cameras crosscalibration results were confirmed, and the uncertainty of HJ-1CCD cameras crosscalibration results brought about by the space pixel matching, atmosphericconditions (including ozone, water vapor, aerosol), surface spectra were analyzed.According to the uncertainties of various factors, the total uncertainties of HJ-1CCD cameras cross calibration results were calculated.(3) The validation research of HJ-1CCD cameras cross calibration coefficientswere carried out by three methods: based on the Dunhuang radiometric test sitecross calibration method, based on the synchronous measurement data in2010method, based on the apparent products of Chaka salt lake tea method, and thevalidation results were analyzed and summarized. The results showed that the crosscalibration coefficients calculated in this paper had higher precision.
