Groundwater is precious natural resources. As the groundwater has the characteristics ofwidely distribution, easily exploitation and it can easily become contaminated, it has been thedeveloped and utilized by human. However, the studies of groundwater exploitation show thathuman activities directly affect the groundwater changes which could cause an unexpecteddisaster for humanity. Therefore, right simulation and assessment of groundwater can predictthe potential hazards of groundwater and provide a reference for the scientific management ofgroundwater. The water level for Songhuajiang reaches will be kept on116m after DadingzishanNavigation Reservoir at downstream begins to store water. The water level will be6m higherthen that in dry season in the past, resulting immersion hazard at upstream. The study area islocated in the south bank of Songhuajiang, including the Dongfeng town, Minzhu town,Juyuan town of Xinren irrigation area, covering226.2square kilometers. The groundwater ofthe study area is mainly pore water in the floodplain. So in the simulation of aquifer, the areais divided to a layer which is a Quaternary pore phreatic water aquifer. The collected data isanalyzed. By using the method that according the growth rate and grey theory to complementsthe lack of information, the extraction, rainfall, evaporation of groundwater is analysized andpredicted.Based on data analysis and added, the hydro geological conceptual model of study areais present. Then the three-dimensional non-homogeneous isotropic unsteady poregroundwater mathematical model is established. Visual MODFLOW, the most popularstandard visualization software on simulating the groundwater is used to simulate andcalculate the groundwater. The critical buried depth of immersion is confirmed according to "The water conservancy and hydropower engineering geology".The study area is divided intothree parts: predictive immersion zone, transition zone and none immersion zone.By the analysis of the causes of the effect of immersion, the possible harm caused byimmersion is predicted. Then the measures to control immersion hazard is come up, providinga reference for the control of immersion hazard.
