In this paper,we choose MODIS images, DEM data, and meteorological station data as data source, we apply remote sensing and geographic information system technology to discuss the extraction methods of information about snow and green vegetation cover and reveal the spatial and temporal variation rule of the snow and green vegetation cover connecting with the DEM, meteorological data. Through the study,we explored the method of the spatial and temporal changes and distribution characteristics of snow and green vegetation cover using time series MODIS data.First, establish the extraction model of snow and green vegetation cover information,reveals the spatial distribution characteristics of snow and green vegetation cover in the year of2005in China; Second, the grading and divison research was done as to the days of Chinese snow and green vegetation covered;Third, we get the time density data of Chinese snow and green vegetation cover, and get the area proportion graph of snow and green vegetation cover time in2005by discussing time density characteristics of snow and green vegetation cover in the four natural partition of China; Fourth, time change analysis is done basing on the month-to month change of the time of snow and green vegetation cover, the space change analysis of snow and green vegetation in2005and the research in time and space chage in2000and2005. Finally, the relationship of terrain factor (elevation, slope, aspect) and snow and green vegetation cover is discussed and obtain space distribution characteristics of snow and green vegetation cover under different terrain factors,the relationship with the climatic factors (temperature, rainfall) is also followed.This Study has important significance to Chinese ecosystem research. The results make great sense to the relevent research of Chinese snow resources utilization, climate change, ecological construction, ecological service function development. We could get the better method to raise the days of green vegetation by applying green vegetation cover spatial temporal change characteristics, combined with water, gas, heat, light, soil and fertilizer and other factors.The temperature explanis much to low days of green vegetation cover in good soil and water condition erea except human factors.As the northwest region and the Tibet region, we can improve the green vegetation area and vegetation growth days,by increasing temperature, rainfall, soil and water conservation, restoration and its potential is huge, global warming is also helpful to play the potentiality.In conclusion, the results of the study provide scientific basis for mining vegetation growth potential and important theory and data support for farming, animal husbandry production and zoology construction...
