GPS(Global Positioning System), an advanced navigation and Poisoningtechnology was rised with the development of the modern science. As the technologywith all-weather, high-Precision measurement and automatic features, it has Played asan increasingly important role in a wide range of high-Precision measurements andcontrol network, control network of the cities, control network of the Projects andcontrol network of mappings. The definition of GPS leveling is to translate geodeticheight computed from GPS surveying into normal height by quasi-geoid; it is widelyused in the application of survey engineering. However, the abnormal of GPS pointscannot be obtained directly, so at present, we cannot translate geodetic height intonormal height straightly and accurately. Conventional geometry leveling is the mainmethod to determine normal height, but this method has poor efficiency. Therefore, how to utilize GPS, which has high precision in position, rapid speed, simplemanipulation and so on to deal with the height problem, it has become a hot spot insurvey engineering. The paper sums up a number of issues related to GPS leveling firstly, Expoundedthe basic principles of GPS leveling, and measuring the sources of error. Alsoelaborated on the earth system are high system, the normal high-definition geoid, thegeoid, like the definition of the geoid; GPS elevation fitting the generalmethods.Intended mode of cooperation and more popular in recent years, GPS data processingin elevation highlights. On this basis, sum up experience combined with the elevationto assist in the preparation of several commonly used in the fitting model-based fittingprocedure, compared with the results before leveling at the same time a variety of fitting methods the conclusions do compared to prove the use of the program.
