Ion channel is a special kind of protein on the cell membrane, and it is also the basiccomponents of signal transmiting in the nervous system. Therefore, to explore the mechanismof neural information is inseparable from the study of ion channels. This paper, we gavesystematically analyses of the relationship between firing patterns of the neurons and ionchannel parameters in the single compartment neuron model and two-compartment neuronmodel. Further we explored the neural information encoding influenced by ion channels in thesimplified birdsong network model. The main results are:First of all, to single compartment of hippocampal CA1neuron model, by means ofcomputer simulation, we studied the model contained the calcium ion channels and the onewhich had non-calcium ion channels respectively. Though the comparative study, variousfiring patterns were obtained and analyzed, with the change of the parameters in the variousion channels, several typical nonlinear dynamical bifurcation phenomenons were investigated,such as period doubling bifurcation and period adding bifurcation, the simulation results maygive us some help in further understanding the signal encoding features and the relationshipbetween them and the ion channels in CA1pyramidal neuron. Then from the study of theseveral ion channels in the two-compartment pyramidal neuron model, we got various firingpatterns and period bifurcation modes in pyramidal neuron which are induced by theperturbation of the ion channel parameters. In view of the difference in structure and functionof two-compartment neuron’s soma and dendrite, we focused on analyzing the role of theconnection strength and the area ratio between them, the results can help us get a deeperunderstanding of the difference in information encodings between soma and dendrite. Finally,in the simplified birdsong network model, we explored the firing patterns of various neuronsunder the change of the external stimulation and synaptic connections, the firing patterns arevery rich, but the bifurcation sequence variation is more complex.In this paper, the numerical calculation for CA1pyramidal neuron and two-compartmentpyramidal neuron was using the Runge-Kutta method by Matlab software. And the numericalcalculation for the neuron of the birdsong network was using the Euler algorithm by Neuronsoftware, and data processing was conducted using Origin software.
