Chlorophyll is an important component of phytoplankton organisms, its spatial and temporal changes in the sea contains the basic ecological information. It is essential for a variety of scientific researches and monitoring red tide. Satellite remote sensing can achieve large-scale and a long time continuous observations for ocean to make up for deficiencies of scattered measured data, also conducive to monitoring, analyzing and researching the phenomenon of ocean. The analysis of chlorophyll concentration of the sea of China has undertaken extensive research. There are many studies for the chlorophyll concentration by using the remote sensing instrument. But in recent years, the study for the long time series of chlorophyll concentration in the Bohai Sea is not many. This paper used MODIS standard OC3methods to study and analyze the changes in chlorophyll concentration of the Bohai Sea from2003to2008results showed that the chlorophyll concentration of the Bohai Sea have a high mean basically4mg/m3-6mg/m3, between various years the changes presented cyclical rules, the highest value generally occurred in August. It shows that the distribution of chlorophyll concentration decreases from the shore to outward. The comparative analysis of the inversion results of chlorophyll concentration in the Bohai Sea by MODIS standard OC3methods and by SeaWiFS standard methods OC4. The result shows that they have similar trend. However, they are not very high correlation because a little comparative data can be used. The2008annual sea surface temperature (SST) of the Bohai Sea changes were analyzed by satellite remote sensing sea surface temperature (SST) images. It shows sea surface temperature (SST) changes seasonally; and chlorophyll concentration did not show a high correlation with SST.The Bohai Sea is typical second-class water, water bodies are complicated, and the current standard methods are not applied to the Bohai Sea. The study for methods of the Bohai Sea is less. In this paper, making the Bohai Sea as a study area, using MODIS IB satellite images for the data source, using the third-band which is not sensitive to the chlorophyll concentration and sensitive17th-band,built band reflectance NDPI remote sensing index and established chlorophyll concentration (C) remote sensing extraction model of the Bohai Sea based on MODIS IB data. Using Rrs(443)/Rrs(920) and measured values of chlorophyll concentration fitted regression analysis to establish the localization band methods. Applying the NDPI remote sensing index model to inverse the distribution of chlorophyll concentration of the Bohai Sea, the distribution of chlorophyll concentration of the Bohai Sea were analyzed and evaluated. The results show that the new NDPI remote sensing index and the localization band methods, which are built by using MODIS IB data, have good correlation and low error. It is feasible to use the two methods for monitoring water quality in the Bohai Sea.
