Spatial variation of soil properties is an important issue of geotechnical parameter uncertainty. The formation history of soil is a important factors which caused the existing of Spatial variation of soil properties. Simply analyse of geotechnical parameter spatial variability without considering the deposition history of soil is unilateral, also not scientific. Therefore, analysing, researching and discussesing the difference of physical and mechanical parameters of soil variability, which is distinguish by the difference of sedimentary environment, have very important sense.The article is based on the physical and mechanical indexes of soil test datas and the research of quaternary sedimentary environment in Geological Survey o f Suzhou City, which was provided by the Geological Survey of Jiangsu Provi nce. Through these material, the article analyse the the statistical analysis and s patial variability of basic physical and mechanical parameters of each sediment ary environment, including water content, density, porosity ratio, plastic limit, li quid limit, plastic index, liquid index, compressibility coefficient, internal frictio n angle, cohesive force, etc. Then compare the difference of each soil propertie s between the sedimentary environments, finding the properties which has the a bility of directing sedimentary environments.Second, analysing the relationship between each parameter of siol properties after Completed the variability statistical analysis of suzhou Ge lake under section of cohesive soil physical and mechanical parameters. On one hand, we can find the reason why the variation of soil properties is changing when the sedimentary environment is changed. On the other hand, it can establish experience formulas for engineering practice in Suzhou. The study of relationship between parameters in pairs is including wet density and density, water content and porosity ratio, porosity ratio and wet density, wet density and water content, plastic limit and liquid limit, plastic index and liquid index, etc. And is also including the relationship between mechanical parameters like compressibility coefficient, internal friction angle, cohesive force with physical parameters.At last, analysis and research sediment groups characteristics in different sedim entary environment. Find the inherent connection about variation of soil propert ies and sedimentary environments with the view of Sedimentary environment c haracteristics and hydrodynamic conditions.
