As a special data, geospatial metadata plays a vital role in GIS applications. With more and more wide applications, geospatial metadata needs standarding development strategy. With having the general concern of the field of geographic information, Related industries have developed a series of geospatial metadata standards. Soil and water conservation industry has a specific industry background, having great demand for geospatial data, and in urgent need of a specific metadata standard to standardize the data and data sharing etc. Based on analysis of the current metadata standard achievements, the methods of metadata standards development, needs of the soil and water conservation industry, analyzing the characteristics of object-oriented thinking, the paper proposed object-oriented methods used in soil and water conservation metadata standard development and havs completed, the standard sets up9subsets. Based on the metadata standards, paper analysized soil and water conservation businesses and the current status and inadequacies in metadata management, the concept of metadata automatic generation mechanism was raised, and the building process was designed.
