Based on the sea surface temperature (SST) monthly mean data from the NCEP/NCAR website, this paper analyzes the SST and the sub-surface sea temperature of the four seasons’(winter, spring, summer, autumn) patterns of the western Pacific warm pool from1980to2010, and define the western Pacific warm pool heat content index and the western Pacific warm pool SST index separately in order to compare the influences of the western Pacific warm pool’s heat content and the western Pacific warm pool SST. The conclusions are as follow:(1) After calculating the correlation index of IND of the1979/1980-2009/2010and the WPA of the1981/1982-2009/2010and the SHI, we can find that the correlation index of the IND and the SHI is-0.59, otherwise, the correlation index of the WPA and the SHI is-0.06. From this it is clear that when the winter western Pacific warm pool’s heat content is larger(smaller) than normal, the western Pacific subtropical high is on the weak(strong) side.(2) The impacts of IND and WPA to the western Pacific subtropical high is separately analyzed from the two aspects:the stream field and the circulation field, and it is found that the impacts of IND to the western Pacific subtropical high is greater than the impacts of WPA to the western Pacific subtropical high. What’s more, when the warm pool’s heat content is larger than normal in the former year, there’s a cyclone over the Philippine Sea in spring and summer, winch causes the upward stream and makes the subtropical high weaker than normal; and when the warm pool’s heat content is smaller than normal in the former year, there’s a anti-cyclone over the Philippine Sea in spring and summer, winch causes the upward stream and makes the subtropical high stronger than normal.(3)It is analyzed the correlation of the former IND and the surface downward thermal heat flux in spring and summer in the aspect of the surface downward thermal heat flux. It is found that near the Philippine Sea when the warm pool’s heat content in winter is larger (smaller) than normal, the sea surface thermal flux is greater (smaller) than normal. Therefore, the mechanism of the warm pool’s heat content worked on the subtropical high in summer can be simply concluded as:when the warm pool’s heat content is greater (smaller) than normal, there exists heat flux from the ocean to the air, which can make the air near the Philippine Sea warmer than normal. Therefore, there exists upward stream which can cause the convective weather and the higher isobaric surface, and then make the subtropical high weaker than normal; and the result reverses in the year when the warm pool’s heat content is smaller.(4) The impacts of western Pacific warm pool’s heat content to the rainfall in our country is preliminary studied in this paper and it is found that when the winter warm pool is warmer (colder) than normal in the former year, the spring rainfall in the northwestern China, the North China and part of the Eastern China is less(more) than normal, what can explain the spring drought in southwest in our country in2010; when the winter warm pool is warmer (colder) than normal in the former year, the summer rainfall northwest and the northeast of our country is less(more) than normal, but the summer precipitation in the southeast coast is less(more) than normal.
