Primary visual cortex is the necessary area that mammalian visual system processes visual information, almost all of the visual information have to go through the primary visual cortex for initial integration and then after a high-level recognizition. The interactions between the various networks of the nervous system, as well as interactions between neurons within the network constitute the basic functional unit of the primary visual cortex in processing visual information, while the local field potentials and action potentials are the two main forms of the nervous system transmit information. Therefore, it is significance to combine the local field potentiasl with action potentials and study the characteristics of rat primary visual cortex response to visual stimulation for understanding of the mammalian visual system encoding visual stimulion. In the paper, first, application of multi-electrode array recording technology to acquire the local field potentials and action potential signals from primary visual cortex of anesthesia LongEvens rat in the state of spontaneous and evoked.Secondly, the firing rate and instantaneous frequency are applied for studing the the relationship between action potentials and local field potentials while the primary visual cortex response to visual stimulation.Again, the firing rate, the wavelet transform and energy are used to study the orientation selectivitiy of action potentials and local field potentials and the correlations between them. Finally, the characteristics of action potential and local field potential response to different stimulitions were combined to identify simple graphics with different topology.1)The relationship between te local field potential and action potential under visual stimulation.First, the combination of firing rate and instantaneous frequency is considered in the phenomena of high-frequency oscillatory synchronization that between the the local field potential and action potential. Then, the method of combining the power spectrum and wavelet transform is adopted to determine the frequency range of the high-frequency synchronous oscillationsrange; Final ly,studies the activities of the local field potential is dominated by the activities of individual neurons.2) The orientation selectivitiy of primary visual cortex based on action potential and local field potential respectively and correlation between them.According to the Spike firing rate and gamma band energy of local field potential study of the optimal orientation in the same location respectively, and analyzed the correlation between them,.Found that there are some differences between the them, and explained the cause of the differences from the perspective of neurophysiology.3) Simple graphics with different topology recognition based on the the action potential and local field potential.Features of firing rate,Spike interval as well as gamma-band of local field potential response to simple graphics are extracted and verify the validity of these characteristics to identify a simple graphicsThese features as the input features of the genetic algorithm to improve the BP neural network, the recognition precision of using both of them was significantly higher than both one of the individually...
