Integrated Position Orientation System called POS is combined by Global PositioningSystem (GPS) and Inertial Navigation System (INS). POS can use Differential GPStechnology and Inertial Measurement Unit obtained position and posture of instrument duringthe aerial photography. Then, through rigorous data processing, the instantaneous exteriororientation elements of aerial photograph can be gained. This newly operation mode can freetraditional photogrammetry from the dependent on large number of Ground Control Points(GCPs). Then can improve operational efficiency and bring a great quantity of economicbenefits.This dissertation mainly analysis the technical state and some key problems during theproductive process involved in POS Supported Aerial Triangulation. Then aimed at solvethese problems, several experimental researches associated with practical production projectwere made. These researches consist of following aspects:1. Resolve the key problems of POS data process.2. Solve the key issues of the POS Supported Aerial Triangulation flow based on ISAT.3. Carry out experimental research of the distribution scheme for image control points,get the conclusion that9points and15points is the best choice to layout the control pointswhen the block have16strips and38baselines with the1:2000final chart scale. Propose anoptimal plan in the case of accuracy.4. Comprehensive comparative experimentation of the current mainstream AerialTriangulation method from many aspects of accuracy, efficiency and cost, get conclusion thatthe POS we used do not play its full potential in the Supported Aerial Triangulation process,and the angle element that acquired from POS do not play a substantial role in the blockadjustment. Such a viewpoint provide basis to select mode of operation.5. Research the way to detect gross error of GCPs. Proposed a new method to detect gross error under the condition of POS supported.By analysis the experimentation results, several conclusions that have guidingsignificance on the production were acquired. As a basis for this, the article gives someproposals to the process of POS Supported Aerial Triangulation. All of these provide areliable technical support for this work carry out in the future.
