This paper selects the Huajie festival for the object of study which is celebrated in the district of gasa and mo sha in Yunnan province.。 Concerned about the relationship and difference between the Huayaodai and Dai under the modern social context, the thesis makes a preliminary study about the system architecture of Huayaodai festivals, including the Chinese New Year, Ging Ming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival that other minorities all possess, and focuses on Huajie festival that is owned by Huayaodai only, in which the difference can be highlighted by comparison.The Huajie Festival is special days for lovers dating, In the traditional society, during the festival, all the people would wear the national costume and went to the streets to meet their loved one. The Huayaodai guy would find his ideal lover through singing or making eye contact, Moreover, the lovers would eat yangluo rice as their love token. Nowadays, on one hand, as the festive mode is far beyond the old one under the foreign cultural invasion and the impact of the commodity economy, Huajie Festival becomes a secret activity between the lovers. On the other hand, the festival inherits in a much larger scale after the governmental involvment and becomes a local festival celebrating by many other minorities. The paper data based on field survey and paper documents. Combined with personal experience and the observation about the role and status of the Haujie Festival in Huayaodai life, the thesis tries to comb the Festival history, including the change of festival time and place, and its different stages during the development, Furthermore, considering local love and marriage custom, such as the yanluo rice, play village, singing in the Field, the huayaodai's pursuit of ture love and freedom of marriage will be emphasized compared with the tradition of arranged marriages by parents. This paper, supporting by the evidence taken from Huajie Festival2011, analyzes the elements of clothing, food, songs, games, dance, trade and other components showed during the festival.At last, this paper analyzes the Huajie Festival, as a local shared culture, integrating much people's culture and elements, has combined with custom and mode from many other local minorities. Three main reasons are responsible for this phenomenon. Firstly, the habitation of Huayaodai possesses geopolitical center radiation force. Secondly, mart culture in the locality covers all the people there. Thirdly, the local people all share the customs of "dadixiong" and "baiqinjia"(which means friend and stranger become relatives). The cultural life there which indicates the mental state of the locals is also a kind of life style through which their emotions can be expressed.
