In China's economic development, the third industry that is service industry has developed by leaps and bounds over the years. As one of the professional service providers, evaluation companies have had a tendency to develop prosperously. Among these professional evaluation companies, small and medium private enterprises have occupied the majority. However, as its industry characteristics and development history etc, in human resource management especially in compensation management, there are many nonstandard and unscientific parts that are hindering the further development of small and medium private evaluation companies in our nation. Many small and medium private evaluation companies consider that it's even difficult to survive in such a dog-eat-dog environment, then how to talk about the improvement and development of human resources. Meanwhile, most academic researches in the past have taken large companies as objects especially given priority to large industrial and commercial enterprises. However, whether the compensation systems of small and medium enterprises especially the professional service organizations as small and medium private evaluation companies could also follow the successful model of large enterprises? At present, few people at home has made case study on this type of company. Therefore, this paper has tried to take Shanghai DH Evaluation Company as the object and an example to find out successful models or models that need improvement for the compensation management of ordinary small and medium private evaluation companies.First of all, this paper has made a brief description of the concept and composition of compensation and has made a pertinent summarization of the functions of compensation, including maintenance, encouragement, regulation and appreciation etc. Secondly, lead to the concept of total compensation system that most relevant to this paper through the theory to design compensation system and the development history of relevant theory. This paper has made a detailed description of each part and main content of the total compensation system.Taking the aforesaid theory as a tool and combining with the actual development of evaluation industry, this paper has made a detailed analysis of the characteristics of compensation management of private evaluation company and problems existing in compensation management and their reasons. Some preliminary conclusions have been drawn:private evaluation companies have both the unique characteristics exclusive to their own industry and some common characteristics that belong to other industries giving priority to offering professional knowledge. Finally, this paper has made a detailed description of the current situation of the inner compensation management of Shanghai DH Evaluation Company which has been taken as a typical research and has verified some common characteristics of the private evaluation industry at present, which has not only acquired some enlightenments from rationality, but offered concrete models actually. In the end, according to materials and actual examples mentioned above, a series of corresponding countermeasures have been concluded in respect of the compensation management of private evaluation company, including determine compensation strategy corresponding to enterprise strategy, make use of scientific methods to design compensation system and establish diversified incentive mechanism etc.
