Under the condition of China's open economy, foreign trade and city development have experienced 20 years of sustained rapid growth, the development of city and the shortage of natural resources, the trade liberalization and environmental pollution dilemma have caused wide attention and rethinking, and has become a hot academic research. Based on this, with the help of endogenous economic growth theory and econometrics, this article discussed the relationship between open trade, environmental protection and city development, from multi angle of theory, model and empirical study, and then provide high reference value policy suggestion for sustainable development strategy of the Yangtze River Delta including 16 cities.This paper reviews and comments endogenous economic growth theory, following the clue:from classical economic growth to the new classical economic growth and then to the endogenous economic growth theory under the conditions of development, and further reviews the domestic and foreign new research results on trade and environment, city development and environment, trade and city development in order to provide theoretical background and analysis center for the in-depth study. Based on the theory of endogenous economic growth, this paper constructs an endogenous economic growth theory model which can completely characterized the intrinsic relationship between trade, environment and city change under the condition of open economy for the first time. Then, taking the Yangtze River Delta as an example, this article empirically analyses the panel data model, and further demonstrates the conclusion of constructing a theoretical model. Finally, according to the test results, we put forward the corresponding policy testing.
