Foreign Direct Investment Research Of Fujian Province

At present, with the accelerated development of integrated world economy, especially following China's access to WTO, China's opening-up has further intensified and foreign direct investment has rapidly increased, which will play an increasingly significant role in our national economy. Foreign direct investment has not only solved the problems concerning financial inadequacy in economic development of our nation effectively, but also brought advanced technology and abundant management experience to improve China's industrial structure and provide more career opportunities, which has had a profound impact on the rapid development of China's economy.Since the initiation of the reform and opening-up policy, foreign direct investment in Fujian has continued to provide a powerful force for Fujian's economy, which has had an important influence on Fujian's economic growth, foreign trade, industrial structure, etc. Foreign direct investment has promoted economic development and in the meantime, has given rise to some related problems, such as unreasonable foreign investment structure. On the one hand, foreign direct investment focuses on the southeast coastal regions while the other regions in Fujian has only attracted limited foreign direct investment, which will damage the integrated development of Fujian's economy. On the other hand, foreign direct investment concentrates on the secondary industry, which will have a pernicious impact on Fujian's adjustment, optimization and upgrading of industrial structure. In addition, imperfect investment environment in Fujian has also restricted the foreign investment in Fujian. It is necessary for Fujian to strengthen regional economic cooperation, better attract and utilize foreign investment, and give full play to foreign direct investment in promoting Fujian's economy in the context of West Coast economic zone ascending a national strategy.In this thesis, on the basis of the relevant literature review, the development and characteristics of foreign direct investment in Fujian will be elaborated by means of a variety of data. Foreign direct investment's impact on Fujian's economic development will be analyzed in detail, and at the same time, some related problems in the process of foreign investing directly in Fujian and some factors concerning restricting foreign direct investment will be presented and finally some corresponding suggestion will be put forward. Besides, this thesis will analyze some issues such as Fujian incorporating West Coast economic zone, promoting West Coast economic development and presenting advantage to Taiwan, which may make better use of foreign investment to promote economic development of Fujian.The thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one is a brief introduction of the whole thesis from the aspects of its background, significance, methodology, innovation, as well as some relevant theories needed. Chapter two gives a review of the term "international direct investment", which keeps an eye on its definition, characteristics, and influence on both investor and host countries. Chapter three focuses on providing an overall introduction to the foreign direct investment of Fujian province by illustrating its development, investment characteristics, and etc. Chapter four is an empirical analysis of the performance of foreign direct investment. Chapter five analyzes the problems appearing in Fujian's foreign direct investment and the factors caused by constraining this kind of investment. In Chapter six, some countermeasures are suggested.
