In China, the construction industry is the important material production sector. It is closely related with national economic development and people's lives improvement. With China's rapid economic growth, its construction market becomes more and more competitive. Construction enterprises which are the main building of construction market need to maintain a competitive advantage in the fierce competition. Whether construction enterprises have competitive advantage depends on the level of competitiveness. So the competitiveness of enterprises determines its survival and development.Firstly, this paper described the development status of China's construction enterprises, analyze their development level, and find out the problems maybe they have. Referencing to the foreign research literature about competitiveness of enterprises and combined with the analysis of construction enterprise products features, I analyze the theoretical of the construction business competitiveness. On the basis of Chinese construction market analysis and domestic and foreign research literatures, hierarchical structure and index system of enterprise competitiveness is established. We propose the construction enterprise competitiveness evaluation method based on SVM on the study of traditional evaluation method defects and establish the competitiveness evaluation model. Then we use the data of 39 listed construction enterprises in 2010 to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model. The result shows that the SVM model can accurately forecast the unknown competitiveness. By changing index data to analyze the influencing factors of different enterprises, we discover that indexes show different impacts on different enterprises. Finally this paper made development strategy to improve the enterprise competitiveness.
