An Empirical Research Of The Relationship Between Structural Change And Economic Growth In Jiangxi Province

Structural change and economic growth are important theme in economic research. The analysis of structural change in the context of economic growth has a very long tradition. Nevertheless this issue is still prevailing in economic research today. There has been renewed interest in recent years in the link between economic growth and structural change. That there is a connection between the two phenomena of structural change and economic growth has been common knowledge in economics for today. On the one hand, economic growth leads to higher income per capita which results in a shifting structure of demand. This implies that economic growth is causing structural change due to adjustments in the production process according to demand side changes and that a higher rate of economic growth increases the speed of structural change. On the other hand, structural change can also influence the economic growth due to sectoral differing productivity gains.But the two phenomena relationship varies across regions and periods, and the direction of causality (whether economic growth promotes structural change or structural change is necessary for economic growth) is an open question. Therefore, the relationship between structural change and economic growth in Jiangxi province is still need empirical investigation. The research methods as follows:First, the theoretical framework of structure and the theoretical synthesis of both foreign scholar's and domestic on the relation between structural change and economic growth are first introduced. Furthermore, analyzes structure evolution in Jiangxi prince and use the indexes structure departure degree and comparative labor productivity to study the change of structure in Jiangxi prince. Second, the article quantitatively analyzes the relationship between economic growth and structural change in Jiangxi province by a var model. The article empirical analyzes the long-term mechanism between economic growth and structural change through co-integration test, grange causality test, impulse response function and forecast variance decomposition.Then, we employ a three feed-forward back-propagatin neural network to construct forecasting model for GDP forecast using GDP data of Jiangxi. The article established two forecasting models, one forecasting model with structural change, the other forecasting model no structural change. And the results of two forecasting models are compared with each other. Finally, this article empirical research shows that, structural change and economic growth are influence each other; GDP of Jiangxi province forecasting model with structural change based on BP neural network is high precision than no structural change forecasting mode, that can promulgate the relationship between structural change and economic growth from simulation standpoint.
