The metal sawing machine is an important tool in the metal processing industry. Its use and cutting performance directly affect the efficiency and quality of industrial production. The feed cutting operation is the main operation of the sawing machine. Usually, the operation is accomplished by the operator based on experience, so the efficiency and quality of cutting depend on the experience of the operator, which have great uncertainty. This thesis starts with the lateral displacement of the saw blade to design a secondary system. The system makes the operation of sawing machine without an experienced operator. It guides the operator to adjust feed rates at the right time in order to improve the metal sawing machine's ease of use and cutting performance.The system designed in this thesis is embedded in a metal sawing machine. It online monitors metal band sawing machine saw blade lateral displacement situation through eddy-current displacement sensor, and draws the waveform graphics of time-displacement on the screen. According to the waveform, operator can be very intuitive to know the timing to adjust the feed rates. In addition, the system can achieve the displacement signal data file storage and remote transmission function. These are used to provide reference data to the sawing machine manufacturer in order to improve sawing control program. For these functions, this thesis analyses some key technical points and gives the corresponding solutions, finally designs and implements the entire system based on the three-layer framework of embedded system design. From the bottom to up as follows:the hardware layer, the operating system layer and the application software layer.In hardware layer, S3C2440A SOC is selected as the central processing unit. This thesis first analyzes the composition of the ARM920T CPU core and on-chip system peripherals, and then extends the necessary peripheral interface circuit and power supply circuit to complete the hardware of the entire monitoring system.In operating system layer, embedded Linux operating system is introduced in this thesis. Compared to the other embedded operating systems, Linux has a better mechanism to achieve a variety of complex functions. This thesis first completes the u-boot Boot Loader and the Linux kernel build. And then by tracking the kernel source code, this thesis analyzes the Linux driver model and designs required device driver in this model.In Linux application software layer,μC/GUI is used as a graphics library to achieve the basic operation interface. And according to the characteristics of the system function, multi-process and multi-thread are used to design the application software.
