In the research of supercavitation experiment, the shape and stability of the supercavitation is important to the supercavitating vehicle. Therefore, the numerical simulation of the supercavitation is the research focus all over the world. To obtain the shape of supercavitation accurately from a great number of images captured by camera and overcome the background interference is an important issue in supercavitation experiment. The article, which is based on the simulation environment, researched the image enhancement and edge detection technology in order to get the shape and edge of the supercavitation accurately. This thesis deeply analyzed and researched the image enhancement and edge detection technology at first. On this basis, the feasible method was put forward. The method enhanced the image by combining the parabola adjustment histogram equalization method, regional sementation piecewise linear transform method and strengthen adaptive histogram equalization details method. To achieve the best effect of image enhancement, the edge detection information was fed back to resolve the optimal parameters of the the parabola adjustment histogram equalization method. On this basis, the improved polynomial interpolation sub-pixel subdivision method is implemented to make a further detection and localization on the edge of the image. The experiments showed this method is more effective for supercavitation's digital imagery. It enhances the image details and reduces the noise as well. It provides favorable conditions for obtaining important paramenters like the shape of supercavitation's digital imagery ect. This algorithm also gets a higher precision on edge detection. It laid a good foundation for the four-dimensional reconstruction of the supercavitation process.
