With the fast development of microelectronic technology, especially the scale and speed of DSP and the processing technology of detection and tracking, the real-time implementation of moving target detection and tracking turns into possibility. At present, the main topic which has been achieved great success in many areas is the embedded target detection and tracking system based on DSP at home and abroad.At first, the target detection and tracking system requirements are analyzed in this paper. According to the function of the system, TI's high-performance digital media processor TMS320DM6437 is chosen as the core processor, the minimum system module and external interface module are designed in sub-module. Then, according to the high-speed PCB design technology, the design of the system's PCB boards are given, the PCB design of the core board is described in detail in this paper. Further more, the system development environment and the debugging process with some of the problems encountered and their solutions are introduced.After the design of the hardware platform is completion, the improved mixture gaussian background model target detection algorithm and the Mean Shift with kalman target tracking algorithm are implemented for the lack of common detection and tracking algorithm. Then, being to capture and playback of the video, the controlling of PTZ, the implementation of algorithms sofeware are described in detail in this paper. After that, the sofeware which is transplanted to the TMS320DM6437 is optimized based on DSP/BIOS. Some related target detection and tracking experiments are finish, and the results show that the real time target detection and tracking achieve the desired requirments.
