With the development of social and economic, the number of cars has a tendency to increase. Which put huge stress on traffic on one hand, and on the other hand, due to moving violation are not effectively stopped, endanger the daily lives of people. The advent of intelligent transportation system was to solve this problem, though it comes to mature during years of development, still has great research potential and value. Especially in recent years, with the popularity of high-definition cameras and video surveillance, the traditional detection methods such as underground coil were gradually replaced by monitoring system based on the image or video. I got research from the angle of the car plate, proposed a method according to the track fitted after car plate location and tracing in high-definition images.This article includes three main modules, license plate location, tracing and fitting.(1) This paper presents a new location idea, first detected in the overall low-resolution images of vehicles, and then locate the image in the local high-definition license plate, license plate positioned to reduce the time. In addition, I improved common algorithm, proposed image grayness algorithm and adaptive gray stretch algorithm based on the characteristics of plates.(2) When rough location, long-range filtering and particle filtering are used to filter noises in the binary edge image, which improves vertical extraction of edge of the plate. Subsequently, I complete the accurate-positioning with the HSV color space. The results of experiment showed that this method has a good performance.(3) In the module of plate tracking, with the help of position prediction of the Kalman Filter, the tracking range can be reduced. When establish the state transition matrix in kalman Filter, the car motion can be approximately regarded as uniform motion in real-world coordinate system, different from the image coordinate system, so the camera coordinate conversion is introduced. Besides, this paper proposes a specific tracking algorithm tracking and positioning strategy.(4) Cubic spline interpolation is used to complete the fitting of the license plate tracking and trajectory analysis. In the end, the traffic laws are combined to judge whether the vehicle is against traffic law, e.g. speeding, retrograde, or violation of traffic line.
