Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) has been the concern of security, especially in recent years. Due to the character of the MANET itself, led to its being a serious security threat. Therefore, the demand for security risk assessment is also self-evident. MANET security risk assessment not only identifies the size of the network information security risks that may exist, but also can assess the harm and loss what the risk assessment information bring up. Through the information security risk assessment, on the one hand we can accurately and integrally understand the security of the MANET and the security environment of it has been. It is useful to help the network to take appropriate security measures to ensure the security risk can be controlled within the mobile scope, so the MANET run in safety and effectively. On the other hand, through ongoing security risk assessment the MANET can help detect the ability of network information security measures and the protection against security risks.The NS2 simulation of this paper move through the MANET, while the application of IDS (Intrusion Detection System) for the study of the background to detect threats, and propose a risk-based entropy and Markov chain method for the model of security risk assessment. The model can be analyzed by three parts:①data acquisition, data analysis and constructing a knowledge base;②the security risk assessing module of the risk-based entropy and the Markov chain method;③the discrimination of risk. And the paper details the implementation of the factors of risk entropy and Markov chain method. Through the simulation and the reference data, we can gain the security risks of the simulated MANET. Then according to the security risk criterion, the level of the threat can be discriminated from the obtained value of the security risks. The model and approach is not only a better solution to the security risk identification of a real-time MANET, but also it can determine the security risks of each node. Meanwhile the implement information of security measures for the MANET is more targeted and effective.Finally, the paper proposed model and methods to achieve specific system development, validation of the models and methods proposed for the assessment of the effectiveness and value.
