In recent years, with the rapid development of wireless sensor networks, ZigBeetechnology are widely used in the application of medical sensors, building automation,consumer electronics, industrial control and families at low complexity. The reasons for usingZigbee are showed as following: self- organization, low power, supports large number of nodes,secure, etc. At the same time, lots of short-range wireless communication technologies used inthe 2.4 GHz ISM band are developing constantly. At present, ZigBee and other wirelesscommunication technologies shared the same frequency band, but it have to face mutualinterference and spectral overlap. People pay great attention to this problem.This thesis proposes a method of combining cognitive radio technology with the ZigBeenetwork which based on ZigBee sensor network, principles of cognitive radio and relatedtechnologies. For 2.4 GHz ISM band, this thesis uses appropriate cognitive radio spectrumsensing capabilities to detect the channel status and statistics, forecast spectrum and searchstable spectrum holes. At the same time, this thesis proposes a simple proposal of changingspectrum that makes ZigBee can change spectrum automatically when there is spectruminterference.The problem of ZigBee and other wireless technologies coexist in ISM band has becomepeople's unprecedented attention. In this thesis, a test platform is constructed with using aspectrum analyzer. Through this platform, this thesis analyzes the operating frequency of otherwireless technologies, acquires the degree of interference suffered in each channel in ZigBeenetwork and masters the situation of 2.4GHz wireless spectrum on the whole. Combining withthe characteristics of ZigBee, this thesis has selected an appropriate spectrum sensingtechniques that is explained in detail and a CR-ZigBee perceptual model is proposed. Throughthe perfect combination of theory of cognitive radio and channel interferences experiments,ZigBee's users are able to select the high-usability spectrum hole as the transmission channel,to maximum extent, which assures efficient transmission.
