Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is a kind of non-contact automatic identification technology which transmits information by coupling of radio signal and identifies objects by the information it transmitted. In recent years, with the rapid development of large scale integrated circuit, network communication and information security technology, RFID technology began to get rid of the limit of technical bottleneck and the obstacles of high cost. Gradually it gets into the stage of commercialization, widely used in industrial automation, commercial automation, transportation control and management, etc.Based on the application of RFID system, we have done several projects with the Split Ring Resonator as the main research object. We design a coupling reader antenna for near field RFID application using in the mobile terminal and a kind of chipless RFID tag.First, the significance and design theory of the near field coupling antenna and chipless RFID tag is analyzed. The design principle of the near field coupling antenna is also briefly introduced. Chipless RFID tags are classified, whose advantages and disadvantages are pointed out, and the working principle SRR structure of is finally studied and discussed.Second, the actual environment of RFID reader antenna which is applied in mobile terminal put forward specific requirements, which mean the antenna must be miniaturization and work in the near field. In this dissertation, a near field coupling antenna applied in mobile terminal is introduced, which has a very small size and whose field distribution is well-proportioned. It has very high efficiency in reading tags. We show the simulation and measurement results. At last, the chipless RFID tag technique has been research focus at home and abroad. In the existing techniques, there are many problems. For example, the size of tags is too large, the utilization rate of spectrum is not high, it lack of functions such as orientation and sensors, etc. In this paper, we realize a chipless RFID tag based on Split Ring Resonator which has plane microstrip structure. With a 4-bits chipless tag as an example, we analyze the feasibility. The measured results and simulation analysis coincide with each other very well. Finally the advantages and the deficiency of the design are analyzed. The direction of research in the follow-up work is pointed out, too.
