Design And Implementation Of The Civil Aviation Meteorological Database Application System

With the development of civil aviation, many countries have been increasing investments for operational system in this area, so has China. The establishment of meteorological database application system of CAAC is also an embodiment of the civil aviation development. In the meteorological database application system of CAAC, a concept is proposed whose name is distributed-database-system, and a physically independent and highly logically integrated database system is provided for the seven meteorological centres of China. In this system the seven meteorological centres of China can make remote access and backups to each others, the function of which can make the operations of the meteorological centres be stable and fast. In another way, an efficient service can be provided to the aviation-weather users when they want to access the weather data, and conditions for aviation-weather researches based on this system..Meteorological database application system of CAAC was established based on commercial database management system which was named Oracle DBMS. The logical structure contains three parts: they are The-Internal-Model, The-Model and The-External-Mode. Depending on the high performance of server IBM670 and the DBMS-Partitioning- Technology, the meteorological database application system can collect, process and store the aviation weather data and meteorological messages of the whole world, and the distribution of all kinds of aviation weather data and meteorological products and the seamless connections between each sub-system in the whole operational system is achieved. The meteorological database application system can provide an automatic generation platform of weather forecasting products, forecast and analysis platform, the daily business operations platform and customer service platform for the weather forecasters, and can also provide current weather reports, weather forecasts, image and graphic products, significant weather information and other weather products for the aviation weather users. Meanwhile it can also provide the hardware and software conditions for the cutovers among the history library, the current-library and the inversion library.Meteorological database application system of CAAC has the following features:database user management,data archiving and clear, material recovery, log management: remote inquiry, configuration managelnent, database installation, database maintenance, database reeovery, data monitoring. This system has the following advantages: strong data processing capability, high reliability, good flexibility and portability, friendly interfaee, flexible configuration, good expansibility.This paper describes the background of the establishment of the meteorological database in the beginning, and then the analysis of the structures and function-settings of the meteorological database application system, which derives from the operational requirements. At last, the details of the design of the program-modules and the achievement of system-functions are introduced.
