Ship evacuation problem is widely concerned due to its significance in crew's life and property security. In this paper, the ship evacuation methods in various cases such as "containing no specific requirements", "including forbidden passing nodes/paths", "including necessary passing nodes/paths" and "including convection" are studied on the basis of the dynamic network flow theory. The individual behavior is ignored in this paper. Each well-trained crew is considered as a homogeneous "commodity", and their organized movement is treated as constrained "flowing".Firstly, the characteristics of the ship evacuation problem are analyzed in detail. The problem can be abstracted into a dynamic network flow model according to the factors which need to be taken into consideration. The nodes, arcs, and their properties in this model can accurately and completely reflect the layout of the ship, the crew's location, the effect of the crew density on their walking speed, and so on. Then a heuristic algorithm which can solve the ship evacuation problem without special requirements is proposed through analyzing the current algorithms'thought. After that, based on this algorithm, the methods of solving "forbidden passing nodes/paths", "necessary passing nodes/paths" and "convection" are brought forward respectively, and the corresponding heuristic algorithms for them are designed. To some extent, the ship evacuation theories and methods are improved in this paper. In the end, the way of embedding MapX component into Visual C++ is adopted to develop the ship evacuation system. In this system, Access database is used to store the data. And the system possesses a user-friendly interface. On top of that, the computation and visualization of evacuation paths are carried out. This will greatly improve the establishment efficiency of emergency programs.
