Real-time acquisition of the shipboard aircraft's position in the air is of vital significance for the safety of shipboard aircrafts. This paper will use binocular vision algorithm to locate the shipboard aircraft's position in the air. The binocular vision algorithm realizes the surveying positioning for air targets by using binocular parallax theory. Implementation of algorithm realization is achieved through fixed position is platform two cameras to photograph the air targets and obtain two images with certain parallax. By applying binocular vision theory, computer will be used to process the images, then get three-dimensional information of the air target in the images, and finally achieve the goal of locating the air shipboard aircrafts.Study of binocular vision is a valuable and hot subject. In this paper, binocular vision theory is applied to location measurement for air targets, which has extensive application value in military, industry and livelihood.The binocular vision algorithm for positioning air targets is accomplished in three steps.Firstly, camera calibration is finished by analyzing the basic principles which is based on binocular vision locating algorithm, considering the space points'projection relation on the image plane generated by the positioning camera from using the images'geometric relation, and establishing the binocular vision projecting imaging model and the transformation relations between coordinate systems with combination of parallax theory.Secondly, when there are external interference such as the initial camera platform changes or the air targets move, the problem of coordinate systems transformation need to be solve to realize re-determination of internal and external parameters of camera calibration, so the binocular vision locating algorithm is improved and more accurate for locating the position of air targets.Finally, the algorithm given in this paper is verified from experimental data after making mathematical simulation of air targets positioning algorithm which is based on binocular vision. The simulation result shows that the accuracy of the binocular vision locating algorithm for positioning air targets is above millimetre, the system is stable, thus the feasibility and effectiveness is better proved.
