Voice over Internet Protocol (Voice over IP, VoIP) is a family of technologies, methodologies, communication protocols, and transmission techniques for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. Other terms frequently encountered and often used synonymously with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband (VoBB), broadband telephony, and broadband phone.Firstly, this paper described the outline of a VoIP soft-phone system in general structure, system model and the main stack. Secondly, it says the division of the VoIP system's main modules and standard interfaces from software's overall structure. Thirdly, it describes each functional module in detail, that is to say, it introduces the business process, the combination of various functional module through standard interfaces and the ultimate realization of the entire system through the code. In the end, it also elaborated on the software testing process as well as some improvement ideas.Through the development, integration and testing, the VoIP soft phone system has entered into a commercial trial run stage at present. It can meet the general needs of our customers, obtain the expected results, and achieve prime design requirements and objectives.
