Virtual image pre-processing is the foundation of future research in virtual-gynecological surgery. The quality of the virtual images is reduced during the image acquisition, transmission and conversion processes. Changes in grey scale levels, noise pollution, geometric distortions and detail loss all contribute to this decrease in image quality. Therefore, during the image processing and analysis stages, certain imaging techniques must be applied in order to improve the image quality. It is difficult to obtain the correct diagnosis and analysis based on a single imaging technique. When conducting image processing and analysis, a variety of imaging techniques must be used in conjunction to obtain a conclusive result. These techniques are key to the success of gynecological surgery image analysis.This article will discuss the fundamental concepts of gynecological surgery image processing, along with the core technologies of image transformation, filtering, image correction and feature matching. This article will outline some of the more innovative and exploratory research in image processing techniques. Research highlights include:1. The basic theory and methods of Image filtering, image correction, image feature extraction and feature matching. The focus will be on neighborhood average denoising, median filter algorithm, image perspective transformation, SIFT and MSER methods.2. Image filtering algorithm based on the enlargement of pixel domains, combination image transformation techniques and image correction methods based on feature matching algorithms.3. The basics of design and implementation of a system used for gynecological surgery image processing.
