With the development of military and information needs, extensive attention has been paid on the underwater communication. From the angle of universal application, the basic living facility water pipe is first researched as the object of this paper. In this paper, an ultraphonic tubulous water channel communication system based on OFDM is designed. OFDM technology is used for signal modulation and demodulation. DSP is used as the hardware development platform to complete the major algorithms and data processing. Through this system, information can be transmitted in the tubulous water channel.In this paper, the propagation characteristics of ultrasonic in water and basic principle of OFDM technology are introduced, and the tubular acoustic channel characteristics are analyzed and studied. According to the channel characteristic, definite condition of tubular water channel is given and channel model is established.Then the hardware and software design of the whole system are given, and each main modular circuit is respectively designed, including DSP Minimum system, data communication module, signal processing modulation and so on. Meanwhile the main algorithms of OFDM are realized based on DSP.Finally, the test results are obtained and analysed after testing the designed system under different conditions, and the insufficiency and further improvement of the system are concluded. Test results show that adopting OFDM technology enhances communication performance and reduces error rate. With the communication distance increasing, it has some effect on the data and the error rate rises. Generally speaking, the reliable data transmission in tubular water channel can be realized, so the implement of ultraphonic tubulous water channel communication system provides a very good reference value for the tubular underwater channel acoustic communication research, application and popularization.
