Autocollimator is an instrument for micro-angle measurement. It plays an important role in such fields as metrological verification, aerospace and precision machinery area. Traditional autocollimator has lower measurement accuracy and smaller measurement range. With the development of science and technology, the widely application of novel optoelectronic devices and computer technology in autocollimator has greatly improved the measurement accuracy and speed.A prototype of visual tracking autocollimator is constructed, and the key technologies of the measure accuracy are researched in this dissertation. A measurement software is designed and written to measure micro-angle accurately. This prototype can overcome the shortcomings of traditional autocollimator with some advanced characteristics, such as high accuracy and good stability.In the subject, a high brightness LED is chosen as the illuminator, CMOS Image sensor was employed as photoelectric transformer. Build visual tracking autocollima- tion system and take PC as processor. Grab autocollimation images with high resolution CMOS industrial camera and transmit them by the USB bus to PC for processing. A visual measurement software is developed based on Visual C++6.0. Measurement results will be displayed on the interface.The subject focused on the design of visual inspection software. By the idea of modularization, software is divided into several parts including parameter configure- tion module, image collection module, image processing module, image and data display module. Each module can work independently to make it easy for expansion and upgrade. More over, multi-threading technology is used in order to improve the measurement speed and reliability.Experimental results show that the visual tracking autocollimator exhibits high precision and high stability for 2D small angle measurement, with the maximum range of±3 00′′×±3 00′′, the resolution of 0.1′′, the maximum nonlinear error of 0.3′′, and drift of 0.5′′/ 4h.
