Airborne electro-optical pod is an important part of fighter precise attack system. It can be used in object research, object capture and object tracking, and all those are associated with the technique of image processing. With the development of the Precision Guided Weapon technique, object capture and tracking is under intensive study.Image display is the key point of electro-optical pod. Excellent image can ensure the object capture and object tracking. Many kinds of electro-optical pod need operators to handle it, so excellent image can ensure the operator to find the object. The main problem is how to display the high-dynamic-range image and preserve the detail information. In this paper, we presented a new technique for the display of high-dynamic-range(HDR) infrared images. We discussed the characteristic of bilateral filter, and how it can be used to display HDR image while preserving the details.Object capture is one of the main function of electro-optical pod. The main problem of this function is how to detect moving object in the moving background. Inspired by the Optical Flow Technique(OFT) and the theory of Multi-target Tracking, we presented a new algorithm to estimate the velocity field of the background. And then, if we find the area has different velocity with the background we can capture the moving object.After the object is captured, the next task is to track the object. Realizing robust and accurate object tracking is not easy, because the target appearance is keep changing. So we must update the template. In this paper, we discussed some algorithms of how to update template. And we analyzed the reasons of template drift. We presented a new way to restrain template drift. A new algorithm of correlation surface optimization is presented in this paper. And we also discussed a new algorithm to judge whether the target is lost.
