Imaging laser radar is a kind of new three-dimensional imaging sensors with high range resolution and angular resolution. Three-dimensional target detection based on laser radar is on a wide range of applications in the military, and is also an important prerequisite for the following three-dimensional target recognition. In this research, there are two kinds of method about three-dimensional target detection based on laser radar under the background. The main contents of the research are as follows:(1) According to the principle of laser radar imaging, the solution process of three-dimensional coordinates of the ground data and the target data is analyzed, under the laser radar simulation. Finally, the three-dimensional point cloud is pretreated into grid for the following three-dimensional target detection.(2) Range-gate is proposed to constrain the three-dimensional target detection. The first step is to find the edge of target according to range-gate and locate the region of the target. In the region, the surface is fitted by using least square. The ground data is removed from the original data to obtain the target data, and the process of target detection is completed.(3) The method based on orthogonal polynomial surface-fitting is used in target detection. The principle of polynomial surface fitting is introduced, and then how to detect target is explained. There are still some problems in the algorithm, the appropriate constraints are added to improve the algorithm.(4) The performance of three-dimensional target detection based on range-gate is evaluated. In the experiment, the threshold of range-gate and the different terrain are analyzed to how to affect the test results.(5) The performance of three-dimensional target detection using surface-fitting based on orthogonal polynomials is evaluated. The experiment is design to analyze the effect of threshold and the improved algorithm.
