Recently, with the the size of internet backbone network is further increasing as well as the user business needs are more diverse. The ip routing forwarding engine that using traditional longest matching algorithm and must use the software to search can not meet the needs of the present. How to design a high forwarding efficiency, high service quality and diversified business data forwarding engine based on MPLS(Multi-protocol Label Switching) is particularly important.After providing environmental analysis of the data forwarding engine system,then,make an introduce to MPLS protocol architecture as a foreshadowing. Based on a detailed analysis of the basic principles of MPLS data forwarding,and the specific functional requirements and performance requirements of the engine system. Design the overall system architecture of MPLS data forwarding engine,and Sub-division of the module and the sub-module,Useing the software engineering and system block diagram, data flow diagrams and other tools. Presented the design of MPLS data forwarding engine conclusion in detail.Framework with specific design and system implementation environment. MPLS data forwarding engine for each module was realized. Including the implementation of the key interface of the sub-module, the system main thread of the reality of implementation of the interface modules and forwarding processes to achieve key. Use code expression, timing diagrams, data flow diagrams and other tools, combined with MPLS forwarding algorithm, implemented a engine based on MPLS data forwarding.MPLS-based data forwarding engine has been integrated in the device. The System supports the IP packet through the MPLS backbone network when the entrance of the public and private node network forwarding. The transmission efficiency, the service quality and multi-service support capacity of the forwarding engine is very excellent.
