Left-handed materials (LHMs) is an artificial metamaterial with negative permittivity? and negative permeability ? . Because of the ? and ? are both negative, some unusual phenomena appear from it. Since the experimental realization of this kind of material in 2000, it has stirred a growing interest among experimental and theoretical researchers. So far, there are two approaches to construct LHMs. One is based array of the Rods and SRR (Split Resonant Ring), and another is based on the left-handed transmission line. In this thesis, the unusual electromagnetic characteristics are analyzed based on these two approaches respectively, and the application of the left-handed transmission line in the microwave circuit is researched. Then the thesis brief review of composite right/left-handed(CRLH) transmission line structures based on complementary split ring resonant-type(CSRR)'s basic theories, a novel band-pass microwave filter is proposed .We use the etching printed circuit board (PCB) to adapting a rectangular or circular CSRR to improve the transmission performance. After using Ansoft HFSS to simulate the result and compare the several kinds of filter models, we manufactured some real microwave filter models. Comparing with the tradition band-pass filter, the new structure has shown some inherent advantages, such as compactness and wider passband. This microwave filter is easy to manufacture and accord the microwave circuits. |
