In recent years, coal mine accidents frequently occur in China, in which gas explosion occupy a high proportion, resulting in significant economic losses and casualties. Since such incident often occurs instantaneously, its destructive effect, is terrible. Therefore, preventing and eliminating the occurrence of such accidents is of great importance for coal mine production.At present, sub-station type monitoring system is widely used for coal mine safety in China. Since the data transmission between sensor and sub-station is realized by an underground cable, the accuracy of the real-time data acquisition is not high, resulting in a hidden danger for the safety of coal mine production . In this regard, we design a PIC18F4580 microcontroller as the core of the mine methane sensor system and design the CAN bus controller PIC18F4580 microcontroller as the main system controller. In addition, we simplify the hardware and software design. The hardware consists of PIC18F4580 8-bit microcontroller (United States Microchip product), the methane detection bridge, signal amplification circuit, switch output circuit, AD reference voltage circuit and display circuit built hardware modules. For software design, we employ modular arithmetic mean filtering method for digital filtering, and complete the development of methane sensor system.Innovations of this research include: we use the hardware PIC18F4580 microcontroller as a sensor control; and use Microchip's MCP2551 CAN transceiver to connect CAN bus to realize the communication function. The measurement system can display the concentration and have the sound and light alarm functions. The new features such as real-time data filtering and concentration signals upload greatly improve the reliability of the sensor.
