With the continuous development of information technology, many domestic and foreign colleges pay more and more attention to the effect of informatization on the education. Many colleges puts forward the concept of digital campus, try to use computer technology, network technology, communication technology to the teaching, scientific research, management and service life of all relevant information resources to conduct comprehensive digitization, and integrate these information resources, to achieve more efficient management and effective utilization.Campus One Card solution is the most important component of campus informatization. It uses the smart card as the medium, to manage personnel, finance and campus resource. It can efficiently implement the interaction of teachers and students with management system. Because of the importance of campus One Card solution, it is very popular for digital campus construction.One of the core technologies of One Card solution is that every subsystem, terminal devices can be interconnected. The communication controller is the core component that fully expands the function and performance of One Card solution system. As one special industrial control equipment, it completely replaced the client function of PC. Compared with PC, it has many advantages, such as working stably, simple operation, low price, low environment requirements. It greatly improves One Card solution system's competitive advantage, and can provide more flexible solutions.The core technology of communications controller is use embedded Linux operating system to realize soft real-time industrial control. This paper focuses on the design and development of communication controller which used in Campus One Card solution system. It has detailed introduction and thorough analysis on embedded Linux technology, 485 bus technology, circuit design and device driver development.
