Communication Modality Affects The Employee Satisfaction And Performance

With the globalization of business, team work has become an important work mode, the globalization of cooperation between enterprises has also increased the use of new media, communication modality of new media and team heterogeneity are also affecting the team communication satisfaction and team performance.This study explore how heterogeneity and communication modality impact team performance by comparing the different heterogeneity teams in the use of CMC and FTF two kinds of communication, and explore the heterogeneity of the team, communication patterns and the interaction between task type and communication satisfaction and team performance relationship.The laboratory experiment showed heterogeneity affect decision time and decision accuracy, its influence depended on communication media and task type. Heterogeneity affect communication satisfaction when using CMC and heterogeneity had a significant effect on meida satisfacation. The richer of communication modality, the shorter of decision time. Communication's influence on decision accuracy depended on task type. Communication modalities affect communication satisfacation only in high heterogeneity team completing viewpoint-creation mission. The communicate satisfacation using CMC is lower than FTF.In viewpoint-creation mission, decision timehad a negative correlation with process satisfacation, in decision-making mission, decision time and decision quality both had negative correlation with communication satisfacation, process satisfacation and media satisfacation. Team heterogeneity and communication modality have interactive effect on decision time, decision quality and media satisfaction. Team familiarity, task type and communication modality have interactive effect on decision quality. Communication modality and task type have interactive effect on on process satisfacation. Team heterogeneity, task type and ommunication modality have interactive effect on decision quality.
