In recent years, the visualization of brain atlas research has become an important scientific study in neuroscience domain in both domestic and foreign countries, many tomography images of brains are visualized at the same time and displayed on the computer for people to see the shapes, locations and space relations of tissues and structures. 3D visualization technology of brain atlases in image guided neurosurgery is becoming a key technology of navigation system, we can determine the surgical plan path, complete surgical operation plans and evaluations in previous according to the position of ROIs lesions.Currently the visualization research of brain atlas is mostly based on TT atlases, the study based on colored SW atlases is rare. Therefore, to study and develop a 3D visualization colored SW brain atlases system which can real-time display neuro-anatomy labels is not only the need of neurosurgery, but also the urgent request of brain science in the medical field teaching. Based on the above research background demand, this paper has analyzed and realized 3D visualization of SW brain atlases for image guided neurosurgery, and completed the integration design process which can real-time display the labels of interested organizations and structures to the neurosurgery navigation system.The research is mainly intergrated to the neuro-navigation system into two function modules, 3D visualization of colored SW brain atlases and real-time display of anatomy labels. The standard atlases that we used are SW atlases that being scanned, digitized, nearest interpolated from SW atlases'paper version.After finishing integrating our research study of three-dimensional SW brain atlases into image guided neurosurgery navigation system, accuracy and efficiency of the system also have been tested in the module tests. In our study, 8 patients'MR brain data were tested, and the test results show that, the system meets the needs of the clinical application.
